afternoon, check out the daytime highs in the mid 60s in san francisco, 70 for san jose as well as for concord. i will let you know hour by hour what you can expect on future cast. pressure billed in for the rest of the week. i will have those details in a few minutes. the epicenter of the virus, wuhan, has acid testing, a form of testing that detects genetic material, rna or dna, rather than antibodies, doing it citywide to rule out potential risks of emerging asymptomatic cases. it is a throat swab and the people get the results on a phone app almost right away. the city is working to conduct those acid tests on all residents, some 11 million people. it is supposed to stop the resurgence of covid-19 and try to ease some public fears about the virus. the problem with these tests is

false positive outcomes. today, contra costa will become the latest county to relax restrictions. that follows san francisco, marin, and san mateo county which began allowing curbside retail pickup and manufacturing yesterday. bay area counties are facing pressure as more towns and cities begin to slowly reopen for business. it was a tough balancing act with more than 11,000 confirmed cases in the area and at least to 390 deaths from covid-19. they are proceeding cautiously. the state continues to flattened the curve and many retailers are asking when they can get back to work. >> san francisco took the most conscious approach compared to anywhere else.

i imagine that we will be one of the last places to reopen. >> santa clara county will begin reopening plans friday and contra costa will start with no vaccine available and all counties are worried about the possibility of a spike in cases. and experts says public health officials are pushing for the right balance. >> the outside of this is that it is going to put more people at risk for getting infected. it is a delicate balance and i hope we get it right everywhere. >> there is no timeline for when the bay area will begin phase 3 but governor newsom may allow hair salons and sporting events to resume in june.

has been keeping an eye on the sides for several weeks. some are under far less than capacity. they hope that will be changing with more sites opening up. a free testing site just opened up in east oakland. it is at allen temple baptist church on international boulevard about a mile east of the coliseum. they are available by appointment and no cost. hundreds of churchgoers in butte county are being tested for covid-19 after a pastor held an in-person mother's day service. one reporter talked about why he defy stay-at-home orders. >> it is never in my heart to put our church in harm's way. that has never been my desire. >> this pastor speaking out in a video. >> they did not feel sick in any way, zero symptoms, and they did not feel symptoms afterwords but they did test and they have tested positive however they did not do it

per classroom while the rest of the students learn online. the students would rotate who gets to come to class and there would be plenty of protocols. classrooms would be placed in between barriers. >> we greeted in the parking lot and we had to take temperatures and ask questions about health and make sure everyone was healthy at home and the students themselves. >> it is not only an experiment but for us, it puts us back to why we are in this, to be with our kids in a classroom setting where relationships can be built. >> the program is for only a few classrooms following strict health department guidelines. and alameda county comic is will get an extra six days of summer vacation with them voting to end the academic year early. the last day of school will now be may 29th. they hope to give teachers a chance to train for how schools might work in the fall. students and parents protested outside a southern california school. they demanded a graduation ceremony. officials from this district

casinos are reopening two big crowds of customers. it is the first of three popular casinos to open this weekend. every other slot machine will be turned off and a maximum of three players can sit at a card table and customers will also be scanned for temperatures at the door. within an hour of opening, the first three floors of the parking garage were full. there is a light at the end of the tunnel for bay area sports fans. the governor says live games good start up again in june however players may not be ready. openinicrighnow it hly 3 weofra looks like july fourth. the warriors may not return until next season and no fans in the stands for all sports.

we go through our day and tracking those isolated showers on high def doppler and snow up in the sierra still. there is a winter weather advisory for the west slopes. here is high def doppler and zooming in, you can see the locations getting that wet start, tracking a few cells across parts of the east bay. you can see right along 580, 680, showers pushing in across hayward three union city. you are getting a pouring right over union city, where the cell is pushing over you and also through fremont. here is a live look with the salesforce tower camera and we are looking at partly cloudy skies and temperatures are in the 50s and 40s. 53 in concord, oakland catching

light showers and 50 degrees. livermore is 52, 56 in san francisco and 51 in san jose and mid-40s for santa rosa. we are looking at partly sunny skies through the day with a chance of a spotty shower, drier warmer weather ahead starting tomorrow and then the warmest days of the week as temperatures continue to climb will be saturday and for sunday. it has been adapted month and in san francisco, picking up almost 3/10 of an inch of rain and that is more rain than the entire month of february when we had zero for rainfall and the last time this happened was back in 1995. since recordkeeping began this has only happened 17 times when may was weather there to february. let's show you the storm system as it continues to slowly move out of here. it is starting tomorrow with drier and warmer weather ahead. is take you hour by hour. again, there is a pipe of isolated shower possible for us as we go through our day and then looking at more sunshine tomorrow.

66 in san francisco, 70 for our high in san jose and the extended forecast, we will see temperatures climb through the rest of the week and especially into the weekend. we have a look at traffic now. we are looking at the golden gate bridge. traffic is moving nice across the area. this is north of here along 101 as you work your way on the southbound side and there is an accident in that area as well along 101 northbound near spencer avenue. it has been there for quite some time. there is some activity over to the right shoulder. with that roadwork and crash, you might see some slight delays on the northbound and southbound sides of 101. here is the alemany project.

they are continuing to do finishing touches throughout the week and overnight. northbound 101 will have problems at least until 6:00. there are no delays into san francisco. 101 looks good in san rafael south and northbound and right now, mass transit is just getting started and muni did increase its frequency for some of its core service routes so check before you go out the door. bart and eta announced a day for the start of service to the long-awaited station in north san jose. a ceremony will be there to sign a document to certify all safety tests are done as a last milestone before service can begin. officials are expected to announce an opening date. they were years behind schedule. a special delivery.
